Well, here we sit in a McDonald’s in Fredericksburg, Texas.
We arrived in Fredericksburg last evening after an 8 hour drive in the van –
the longest we had been in the van in a long time! It was an odd day as we knew
we were leaving Big Bend and the desert, isolated, rural life we had known and
become quite accustomed to for the last 3.5 months. It was a bit of a whirlwind
finishing packing, saying goodbye, leaving the park, and re-entering a very
different life and lifestyle.
There are lots of cars out here! And lots of people! And
lots of buildings and stores! And lots of other stuff! We spent most of the
last several months hanging around with cactus, bears, jackrabbits, javelinas,
desert rainstorms, ocotillos, and the like. Of course we will adjust and be
‘just fine’ – great G Love song by the way. But excuse us if for the moment our
heads are still spinning a bit!
Onto the East and who know what’s next!
Last Goodbye on Sunday, August 11th |
Laura & Andre - It's been wonderful for myself (and others I'm sure) to "sort of" experience life on the road! I've been reading your blog faithfully and, although I can't see first-hand the beautiful scenery and wildlife, or take in the captivating aromas of the wilderness, it's been a trip for me as well. I pray that your upcoming adventures will only make your stay at Big Bend pale in contrast! Thank you for sharing your days and thoughts. Looking forward to see you this fall Laura. Sincerely, your friend, Polly
