Dagger Flat Auto Trail

Each evening after work in the Visitor Center we try to get out to see something in the park. Over the 6 weeks (can you believe it?) we have been here, we've now seen quite a bit of the park and have started to do some repeats as well. One evening this week we did one of those "repeats" and drove the Dagger Flat auto trail. It is not one of the most publicized or recognized drives in the park, but it's a scenic drive that we have come to really love.

It's a gravel road of about 7 miles in length and it winds eastward into a small valley where there is a forest of giant dagger yuccas. At one point, you feel as if they are watching you, as you are entirely surrounded by these beautiful silent giants. Not sure I was able to capture that feeling in the photos, but you can at least get a taste for the unique yucca forest.
