South Carolina Moonshine Anyone?

Catching up on entries for the last few days. A funny thing happened on the way out of South Carolina, heading to Georgia. We were on the highway and got off in a town to stretch our legs and walk around to see the sights of Anderson, SC where there is a small university and a downtown area.  We were just heading back toward the car when a sign on a building caught my eye. It said "Palmetto Moonshine". Andre & I looked at each other and thought, does that moonshine really mean moonshine? Well it did, so of course we went in to check it out. We were given a fine tour of the moonshine makin' process by a gentlemen on his first day of the job, as well as samples of the different styles of moonshine including; 105 proof White Lightening, Peach, Blackberry and for dessert, Apple Pie moonshine! The distillery  has been there about 2 years and it was the first legal moonshine distillery in SC. A great visit with some friendly folks.

  1. Hi Laura and Andre!!! It's so funny - Russ and I were in Anderson SC last fall visiting relatives and our nephew who goes to college there. And what do you know - we too came upon the Palmetto Moonshine location and went in to browse. We got a little tour but no samples (what's up with that?). Laura I might have told you about it but it wouldn't have meant much at the time. Also, Russ' oldest brother who lived in W. Columbia SC died about a week and a half ago so we took the 17 hour drive to attend the funeral. He was 86 and had been battling cancer. We met my father & Janice in Lynchburg (slight detour from Rte 77) for dinner at the Olive Garden on our way home last Friday - best part of the trip for me. So I hope you two continue to discover new places and have loads of fun exploring the good ol' USA!!! Take care, Love,Polly PS: I really miss you around here Laura but so thankful to have Mindy. As you know, a good manager can make or break your day in the office!
